Vendor Marketplace

The REC Vendor Marketplace offers provider members a selection of three types of pre-qualified vendors:

  • EHR Software Vendors
  • Technical Service Consultants
  • HISPs
    Note: When speaking with a HISP vendor, please identify yourself as an RI REC member to access discounts and standardized client contracts.

Depending on where your practice is in the process of implementing or upgrading an EHR, you may need one or more of our marketplace’s vendors/services. The following paragraphs describe the types of vendors and the types of services that our Vendor Marketplace participants provide.

EHR Software Vendors

  • Provide EHR software that incorporates standards compliance, privacy and security, and HIE integration
  • Create an implementation project plan and project manage a practice’s EHR implementation and achievement of meaningful use
  • Provide software technical support and testing and recommend and supply template design and configuration specifications to facilitate data collection
  • Provide assistance with chart migration and abstraction to move data from paper charts or from an existing EHR to a new EHR
  • Provide training and launch support for an EHR implementation
  • Assist a practice with quality data extraction and reporting, including registry functionality
  • Optimize a practice’s workflow and provide written recommendations

Technical Service Consultants

  • Identify a practice’s strengths and weaknesses to determine actions and services needed to implement an EHR
  • Assess a practice’s core competencies, including the management and leadership, operational, organizational, cultural and technology needs; and provide a detailed report of the findings to review with the practice

Implementation Service Consultants

  • Perform a technical evaluation of a practice, create an implementation project plan and project manage an EHR implementation
  • Assist with chart migration and abstraction to move data from paper charts or from an existing EHR to a newly implemented EHR
  • Recommend and provide data structure formats, templates and table designs to facilitate data collection
  • Provide training and launch support for an EHR implementation
  • Assist a practice with quality data extraction and reporting, including registry functionality
  • Optimize a practice’s workflow and provide a written report of recommendations

Practice Redesign & Optimization Service Consultants

  • Evaluate and apply technical and healthcare best practices for workflow process redesign and clinical decision support
  • Conduct education sessions on workflow analysis and redesign for key care processes affected by an EHR implementation
  • Identify core clinical measure specifications for quality reporting and provide guidance on how to make the best use of technology
  • Evaluate practice teams and roles and recommend ways to maximize a practice’s efficiency
  • Assist with chart migration and abstraction to move data from paper charts or from an existing EHR to a new EHR

  • Utilize quality data to guide practice change
  • Identify core clinical measure specifications for quality reporting and create Web-based platforms that improve the ability to view and utilize reports
  • Design and use tools to manage staff and patient populations for improving efficiency
  • Use rapid-cycle improvement efforts to create a support structure for a practice’s ongoing needs
  • Assist in optimizing a practice for Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) qualification

Education & Training Consultants

  • Provide training to ensure that providers and practices are well equipped for a successful EHR go-live process and that there is proper integration of system updates
  • Provide education and tools to ensure a practice’s ongoing quality usage and EHR improvement

Meaningful Use Gap Analysis Consultants

  • Analyze a practice’s ability to achieve meaningful use core and menu objectives for an EHR and provide documented findings of the analysis to review with the practice.
  • Discuss any needed remediation plan that addresses any found gaps, and recommend how to achieve meaningful use

Health Information Service Provider (HISP Vendors)

  • Provide Direct Messaging, ie, secure e-mail for the exchange of electronic health information
  • Provide secure e-mail that is compliant and compatible with the national Direct Project specifications and best practices, including:

    • General privacy and security standards 
    • HISP solutions that are able to perform encryption, trust verification, and authentication on providers’ behalf

  • Provide training and launch support for secure e-mail implementation
  • Provide ongoing phone and e-mail support; provide software technical support and testing
  • Provide a configuration guide to providers who want to manually set up their e-mail accounts in the web-based mail client provided by the HISP and desktop-based mail clients, such as Microsoft Outlook
