Pediatric Portal
One issue that has been discussed is how to get pediatric patients signed up for the portal. If the parent has access, that can be problematic with teens and their privacy. EMR developers need to set up controls in some fashion to block access for an age range - when the 9 y/o turns 10, or whatever age the pediatricians decide is appropriate. Maybe require another password that the teen would have. Another concept is a parent portal for email access but no access to clinical information/meds/labs/sexual history.
Pediatric providers should be aware of this issue before signing up their patients for the portal.
