Electronic Prescribing of Controlled Substances

The Interim Final Rule (attached) was posted by the DEA a couple of days ago. It looks to me like they're keeping in the requirement for two types of authentication. Does anyone have any insights on the rule or links to good summaries?

It is interesting how the two "signature" system is being proposed. This would certainly slow down the workflow - and add more work internally. I wonder if the hoops are going to end up causing more headache than simply printing the prescriptions. They are suggesting that they don't see a better way and are open to further input on the matter.
I want to also point out that there are various requirements of the software venders - security measures, monthly reports, etc. I hope the EMR vendors are keeping an eye on this so it doesn't take another year or two to be able to comply with the final requirements.
Using an EHR? Yes - eClinicalWorks
