Consultants-EMR remediation

Hello
We currently have an EMR (Soapware) and are looking for consultants to help us with evaluations and options in moving towards meaningful use as well as being able to report financials in a more meaningful way. We are a community health center, but currently do not have to produce UDS reports etc. We need suggestions for consultants or evaluating consultants who could provide us an overview of our options.
Thanks Gloria
My first step would be with the current vendor. If you have already done that, I am curious as to their response. If you have not pursued that, I would ask them to outline how their product will be able to get you to the level of meaningful use. If they do not have a plan on getting their product/clients to meaningful use standards (though we don't have the final ruling on what those standards are going to be), then their product is going to bite the dust very quickly.
I have not used consultants so I cannot help you directly on that. I don't know if there is a certification process/standard by which consultants have to prove themselves - or if they can simply say that they are experts and that is that. I am not sure if RIQI has a list of qualified consultants. Others on this forum might have experience to share. Another option is checking with medical societies to see if they have lists or reputable consultant companies - or simply ask who it is that they are getting their advice from.
