Set Measurable Goals — Know Success When You Achieve It
Establishing specific goals will give you something to work towards and a simple way to assess your progress and ultimate success. It will also help you derive the greatest return from your investment.
Clearly defined goals and benchmarks help organize and rally your team, give them focus, and offer a shared purpose. When you achieve these goals, everyone will feel a great sense of accomplishment.
When creating your goals, don’t simply focus on the short-term implementation. Also set long-term goals for how the EHR will transform your practice. Ensure that all of your goals align with your strategic plans.
Goals can include:
- Schedule for implementation
- Date to go paperless
- Timeline to establish procedural libraries, medication formulary, etc.
- Deadline for customizing five basic templates
- Target and timeline for outside transcription cost reduction
- Date for formal staff training
